Prep Optional Prep Optional will be included in the state meet, they can also attend sectionals

Qualifying score – 29.0 to states
Event specialist qualifying score 7.25

Score keeper note: This year coaches or clubs will be providing proof of their athlete's qualification scores to sectionals (level 5 & 6) or the state meet (for Level 4, 7, 8, 9 & 10) by sending scoresheets with their athletes highlited to the State Score Keeper. This can be done by the coach asking for a copy of the score sheet at the meet or downloading the results, highlighting their athlete & mailing or emailing them to the score keeper. Athletes must be highlighted by the coach / club as the score keeper is not responsible for searching thru the entire meet result list to pick out each Vermont gymnast. Scores must be received no later then 10 days prior to the meet needing the qualification score.

Coaches and Judges
There was question this past weekend at the SB Invitational about a skill on bars:

The skill was #7.310 - Sole Circle on LB release to catch HB - C

Regardless if the skill is not executed well, it is still a C value - judges would just apply the appropriate deductions. If the skill ends in a dead hang - it will most likely require the gymnast to "extra swing" and that would result in .3 for each of those swings. And the fact that the skill ended in a dead hang means the counter movement forward was not executed properly (hip height) and would result in a deduction as well. In any case, it still remains a C skill and can not be de-valued as I do not see anything in the code that resembles this skill at a lower value.

Safety Course Sat Nov 17th at GMG in Williston 9:30 AM to 2:30
Safety Course Participants needed

  I am faxing in a Safety Course for Saturday, November 17th, 2007 at Green Mountain Gymnastics in Williston. The time is 9:30 AM to 2:30.
  USA usually cancels courses with less than 9 participants. I may keep the course (for no reimbursement) as long as I have 6. So, since I need to Safety Certify 4 people for sure that I know, if there is anyone else who will be renewing withing the year, think about it.
  The Course Code will be GM11172007VT. Since I am faxing it in today, it should be up and ready for online registrations by Wed. of next week. Please register right away, that will let us know whether to panic or beg for them not to cancel. I will email Tania and request that I can still hold it regardless of numbers, don't know what they will say.
  The sooner people register, the better our chances.

Reminder:
  The Safety is current for 4 years and if you renew withing that time frame, the course is free, If it is past your renewal date, the fee is just $25 for late renewal. For first timers the fee is $115 and is good for four years. You can register online or snail mail with a form from the back of Technique Magazine or with credit card by calling 1-800-345-4719 ask for Member Services and Safety Course Registration. If you need a Technique form for snail mail, contact me.

Safety Course at Dunkley's on Friday, June 22nd from 4:30 until 8:30.
There will be a Safety Course at Dunkley's gymnastics Camp in South Hero on Friday, June 22nd from 4:30 until 8:30. Testing has been re-instated in the Safety Program. It is open book and we will cover the majority of the information.
  You must register online at least two weeks prior to the course. You can also register by snail mail using a form on the back of Technique. The information you will need is the course code:

GM06222007Vt and location: south Hero , Vermont. and a check or Cr. card.

  If you know of anyone who needs to renew or take this, please let them know. I will put out several more reminders. Renewals are free providing the registration form or online form is done prior to two weeks. To judge USAG meets, one must be Safety Certified and also be a USA member as well as NAWGJ member. You must be Safety Certified to be a USAG member.
  You may renew within 12 months of your expiration date.
